Carmen Huffman

Carmen Adene (Larimer) Huffman, daughter of the late Harry and Pauline (Shaffer) Larimer, was born December 9, 1934, in Newton, Iowa, and passed away February 18, 2025, at The Bridges of Ankeny in Ankeny, Iowa. 

Carmen attended school in her hometown and graduated from Newton High School in 1953. 

That same year, she was united in marriage to Ivan Brown. This union dissolved in 1981. A new marriage union was formed with Frank Huffman in 1986, which lasted for 30 years, until his death in 2015.

Carmen found fulfillment in her life as a homemaker as well as working in the children’s ministry at her local church. She learned ventriloquism and employed this skill performing with puppets for her young disciples. Her ministry extended beyond the walls of her home and church. She visited family and friends often as well as finding time to chat with new acquaintances while she was out and about. Upon returning to her beloved home, she was often greeted by one or two dogs, which she treasured as honored pets.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Frank, a daughter, Paula Davidson and a brother, Rayburn Larimer.

Carmen is survived by her daughter, Vicki (Brown) Hofmeyer and husband, Andy, of Kingman, Arizona, two sons, Randy Brown of Ankeny, Iowa, and Tony Brown of Council Bluffs, Iowa, seven step-children, four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and many other step- grandchildren, family and friends who will miss her greatly.
