Carl Ray Steffey, son of the late Don Carl and Ora Edna (McCoy) Steffey, was born June 8, 1934 in Llano, Texas, and passed away July 17, 2017 in Springfield, Missouri. He was 83 years, 1 month, and 10 days of age.
Carl grew up in the Llano and Burnette, Texas area and graduated from Burnette High School. He served his country in the United States Army. He married Lucille Smith on December 31, 1989 in Mountain Grove, Missouri.
Carl worked as a salesman most of his life and enjoyed selling cars and motorcycles. After moving to Mountain Grove in 1987, Carl worked for Duane and Peggy Hungerford at the Chrysler Dealership. He worked in Branson at Lipscomb Ford and achieved salesman of the month several times. He also worked for Central Dodge and White Motor Company in Springfield, Missouri, and at Don Vance Ford in Marshfield, Missouri. He spent some time working for his good friend, Bob Abercrombie, in Arkansas. He and Bob remained good friends until Bob’s passing a few years ago. Carl also delivered medical supplies to facilities in the evenings. At the time of his passing, Carl was working at Wehr Ford of Mountain Grove.
Carl loved music and was a good singer. In his spare time, Carl enjoyed playing the guitar and singing.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Don Carl and Ora McCoy.
He is survived by his loving wife of their home, Lucille, two sons, Donald Ray Steffey of Bismarck, Arkansas, and Ronald Wayne Steffey and his wife, Mary, of Gatesville, Texas, two daughters, Suzanne Burroughs of Malvern, Arkansas, and Carla Mann of Bismarck, Arkansas, one step-son, Kelly Hoots of Mountain Grove, Missouri, eleven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, a cousin, Lavon Schooley, and many other relatives and friends who will greatly miss him.
