Carl Leo Grabher, son of the late Carl Leo Grabher and Verma Jewel (Yates) Evans was born November 26, 1948, in Denver, Colorado, and departed this life November 11, 2023, in Puerto Rico. He was 74 years, 11 months, and 16 days of age.
Carl grew up and attended school in Marionville, Missouri, where he excelled in multiple sports including football and track. He graduated from Marionville High School with the class of 1968. Following graduation, he went to work for the railroad for a few years, and then drove a truck over the road for the next 18 years. He decided that he wanted to be home from the road, and he started The Tire Shed in Seymour where he would eventually meet and marry Karen Lee Hennigh in June of 1997. They owned and operated The Tire Shed together until they retired in 2019. Karen passed from this life on October 17, 2021. Through his grieving process, Carl came to a revival at Bethel Free Will Baptist Church in Marshfield, where he met Gladys Champlin. They were both broken from the loss of their respective spouses two years prior. Through the hand of God, they were united in marriage on November 4, 2023. Even though their marriage was cut short, their love was pure.
Carl was a well-known and loved member of the Seymour community. He loved to give hugs, wet-willies, and spend cherished time with his kids and grandkids. Carl’s hobbies also included farming and taking care of his cattle. He was a proud Mason and he was a member of the Hazelwood Masonic Lodge. Carl didn’t know a stranger, and he never missed an opportunity to share the gospel when he would start a conversation with someone.
Carl loved to travel and he enjoyed visiting multiple states. Carl thought he was a great driver, but his passengers tended to disagree. He scared anyone who would ride with him, especially his grandkids. He would always get there quick, but usually because he was running behind. Carl was a long-time member of Seymour Free Will Baptist Church and he also served on the board. His greatest joy in life was serving and praising the Lord.
Besides his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his wife, Karen Grabher, two daughters, Gail Plain and Tawnya Davis, and two brothers, Raymond Grabher and Mike Evans.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys Grabher, eleven children, Cristy, Missy, Kesha, Tina, Bobby, Cyla, Carson, Clinton, Becky, Mark, Sarah, Chelsea, and David, one brother, Evan Evans, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family and friends who will miss him.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Seymour Free Will Baptist Church in care of the funeral home.
