Carl Arnett Swenson

Carl Arnett Swenson, passed away on Monday, November 19, 2012 at his home in Mtn. Grove, Missouri. He was born on November 23, 1930 in Kansas City, Missouri, to Homer and Hazel (Hamilton) Swenson.
The family moved to Mtn. Grove in 1944. Carl attended Mtn. Grove School and graduated from Mtn. Grove High School in 1948. He was united in marriage to Dawn Wheeler on March 4, 1951. They raised four children.
Carl served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He served three years in France and then from 1957 to 1967, he served with the Photomapping group. Their mission was to map the Free World. Carl operated Hiran equipment in an airplane. These operations lead him around for three months to a year. He spent time in the Philippines, South America, New Guinea, and Eniwetok Atoll in the northwest Marshall Islands, often going back to the same site several times. The arrival of satellites put an end to these missions. Carl then served a year in Vietnam. Upon returning, he retired from the United States Air Force in 1973 after twenty-two years in the military.
The family then moved back to Mtn. Grove in 1975, where they owned and operated the C&D Car Wash for twenty years.
Carl sold the car wash and started playing golf. He was active in the Rotary Club, the VFW and he enjoyed traveling in their motor home whenever he got the chance.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter: Valerie Taylor.
He is survived by his wife: Dawn Swenson, of their home; one son: Michael Swenson and his wife, Geneva, of West Monroe, Louisiana; two daughters: Stephanie Fagan and her husband, Charlie, and their family, of Kansas City, Missouri, and Michelle Brena and her family of Charleston, South Carolina; twelve grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; one sister: Carol Choulet of Glendale, Arizona; one brother: Steve Swenson of Mtn. Grove; and other friends, relatives, and neighbors, who will miss him very much.
