Cara Lyn Hennessee, daughter of the late Dwight and Gladys (Batman) Culbertson, was born June 11, 1943, in Modesto, California, and departed this life October 2, 2017, in Springfield, Missouri. She was 74 years young.
Lyn grew up and attended school in Modesto, California. After graduation, her family moved to Lafayette, California, where she met and married Darrell Long. Three children were born to this union: Dara, David, and Dennis.
Later Lyn moved to San Francisco, California, and she met the love of her life, Tom Hennessee. They were married in Reno, Nevada, on April 26, 1976. The couple moved to Texas to live for a few years, and then later moved back to California and lived in various places around the state. Tom passed away June 18, 1994 in Olivehurst, California. After Tom’s passing, Lyn moved periodically, and she had the opportunity to stay with different loved ones. She then moved to Mountain Grove, Missouri in July of 2012, where she lived until her passing.
For many years, Lyn had worked as an administrator in an assisted living retirement home. She enjoyed this opportunity, as she was able to serve many people in whatever capacity necessary. Lyn loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and they were always very important to her. She loved her church and always enjoyed reading her Bible.
Lyn was also a pet lover, and she treated her animals like they were her children. She enjoyed making many different kinds of jewelry, and she loved to play her computer games. She was an amazing mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Lyn was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell Long, her second husband and the love of her life, Tom D. Hennessee, and her parents, Dwight and Gladys Culbertson.
She is survived by her daughter, Dara Saunder-Grimes, and her husband, David Grimes, of Florence, Oregon, two sons, David R. Long, and his wife, Sharon, of Mountain Grove, Missouri, and Robert Dennis Long of Brookings, Oregon, her brother, Ronald D. Culbertson of San Diego, California, eight grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and other extended family and friends who will miss her.
