Cal Dean Boze departed this life, due to kidney failure, on January 6, 2024, at the age of 82 years, 3 months, and 29 days. Cal was born on September 8, 1941, in St. Louis, Missouri, to his parents, Carrel John and Ethel Bertha (Fleig) Boze.
Cal attended Principia School before joining the Navy in 1958. His love of the Navy and his time at Principia School carried with him all his life. After leaving the Navy, he attended Southwest Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau where he met Carolyn Hixson. He and Carolyn were married, in Florissant, Missouri, on November 27, 1964. To this union three children were born: Pamela, Ronald, and Michelle.
They resided in the St. Louis area until 1982 when they moved their family to Aurora, Colorado. There they enjoyed traveling to the Rocky Mountains, camping, fishing, sightseeing (especially the plethora of wildlife), watching the Denver Broncos play football and the Colorado Rockies play baseball. Throughout the years they traveled throughout the United States, and Cal truly loved his country. They relished the time spent with their children and grandchildren and the many holiday gatherings they shared together. Cal was such a softie when it came to holidays, and you would frequently find him shedding a tear as he watched the excitement of the children opening their gifts.
Cal retired in 2007. In 2012, he and Carolyn followed their oldest daughter, Pamela, back to Missouri. They settled in the Mountain Grove area where they lived until Carolyn passed away in 2020. After a short stay with Pamela, Cal then moved to the West Vue Nursing Home in West Plains where he lived until his death.
Preceding Cal in death were his parents, Carrel and Ethel Boze; his wife, Carolyn Boze; brother, Thomas Mayes; and sisters, Loretta Baker and Evarie Jean Baker.
Cal is survived by his daughter, Pamela Hinshaw (Kevin) and their children, Logan and Riley Hinshaw; son, Ronald Boze; daughter, Michelle Wronski (Edwin) and their son Nicholas Wronski; sister, Patricia Schulz and her children Margaret Farmer (David), Karen Klix, Charles Klix (Debbie), and Cheryl Brown; plus nephews from sister, Loretta: Bill and Robert Baker; and the many children of his nieces and nephews. Cal will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
