Burnice Pauline (Wren) Northcutt, daughter of the late Ernest and Mary (Varnell) Wren, was born in her family home in Huggins, Missouri, March 14, 1929, and passed from this life June 14, 2018, at Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston, Missouri. She was 89 years and 3 months of age.
Pauline grew up in the Huggins Community and attended Alice School through eighth grade. She graduated from Houston High School in 1946 at the age of 16. She attended Southwest Missouri State College and taught in one-room rural schools in Texas County (Brushy Knob, Logan, and Cleveland) for eleven years, teaching grades one through eight.
Pauline’s love of teaching and her love for her students was exemplified by her dedication and support in their activities like ball games, pie suppers, parties, and fund raising events. She cared for her students and her students felt that love and compassion and caring spirit as Pauline taught them good moral character, honesty, and respect for others. Some days were sad and disappointing but the reward came when she saw them excel and become leaders in society.
Pauline was united in marriage to Kenneth Northcutt on November 10, 1951, in Salem, Arkansas. They always worked together faithfully for their home and the progress of their community. Pauline could always count on her loving husband’s support. They shared 62 years together before he passed away on July 19, 2014.
Pauline accepted Christ while she was young and continued serving faithfully until she was called home to glory. Pauline attended Fairview Pentecostal Holiness Church for most of her life. She enjoyed singing in the choir and teaching Sunday School. She loved her church family which was second only to her own family.
Besides her parents, Pauline was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth, her sister, Maxine Allen, and by three half-brothers, Alfred, Earl, and Virgil Wren.
She is survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends, and church family who all will miss her dearly.
