Burnice Marie Riley

August 30, 1929 — July 6, 2015

Burnice Marie (Hicks) Riley, daughter of the late William and Katy (Hopkins) Hicks, was born on August 30, 1929 near Buckhart, Missouri, and passed away on July 6, 2015, at the age of 85.
Burnice graduated from Ava High School in 1946. She attended college in West Plains and SMS in Springfield, where she obtained her associate degree. Burnice taught K-8th grades in Douglas County for six years.
She married Donald Ira Riley on March 4, 1953 in Gentryville, Missouri. Their son Donald Gene Riley was born in 1969.
Burnice worked for Civil Service at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri and Fort Riley, Kansas.
She was of the Baptist faith.
Besides her parents, Burnice was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; son: Donald Gene; sister: Helen Cash; and brother-in-law: Dallas Cash.
She is survived by two nephews: BJ Cash and his wife, Becky, of Willow Springs, Missouri, and Sonny Cash and his wife, Diane, of Holts Summit, Missouri; and three sisters-in-law: Ramona Riley Sparwasser of Vancouver, Washington, Lois Riley of Mountain Grove, Missouri, and Dee Allen of Cabool, Missouri.
Burnice is being cremated under the direction of Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home and no services are planned at this time.
