Brooksie May Dalton, daughter of Samuel and Brooksie McHaffie Dalton, was born August 22, 1954, in Rogersville, Missouri, and departed this life on January 19, 2022, at Glenwood Healthcare Center in Seymour, Missouri, at the age of sixty-seven years, four months, and twenty-eight days.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a nephew, Larry Ousley, Jr.
May is survived by a brother, Tom Dalton and wife, Barb of Seymour; three sisters, Joyce Walker and Kay Ousley both Fordland and Faye Nix and husband, Donnie, of Nixa; several nieces and nephews who May considered as grandchildren.
She was born in Rogersville but lived most of her life in the Mansfield, Seymour, and Fordland communities. She was a graduate of Mansfield High School in the Class of 1972. She was a babysitter for her nieces and nephews as well as working at Emerson Electric, Merry Maids, and was a cook at the Mimosa Café. She and Junior Tanner had a long life together before Junior’s passing.
May was saved and baptized at the Homeland Southern Baptist Church in Springfield and had attended the Fordland Freewill Baptist Church until her health began to fail.
In her spare time, she loved gardening, canning, hunting mushrooms, fishing, her dogs, and cats.
May was a loving sister, aunt, a caring neighbor, and friend. We will always cherish the special we had together.
