Bonnie Jean Hurst

Bonnie Jean Hurst, daughter of the late Clifford and Irene (Torkelson) Leach, was born September 23, 1938, in Mountain Grove, Missouri, and departed this life November 14, 2019, in Mountain Grove, Missouri, following a short illness. She was 81 years, 1 month, and 22 days of age.

Bonnie grew up in the Douglas County area and attended elementary school at Pleasant Valley and high school at Mountain Grove. She was united in marriage to James William Hurst on September 25, 1956, in Buckhart, Missouri. Five children were born to this union. They raised their family just south of Mountain Grove, in Douglas County.

Bonnie was a dedicated and hardworking caregiver. She served as a Certified Nursing Assistant for over 40 years in the Mountain Grove and Cabool communities. She enjoyed many hobbies including gardening, yard sales, and shopping. She also had a great love for her pets. Bonnie’s greatest joy in life was her family and spending time with them at family gatherings. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Bonnie is survived by her husband of 63 years, James Hurst, two sons, James “Jim” Hurst, Jr. and wife, Paula, of Success, Missouri, and Bradley Lynn Hurst and wife, Dawn, of Mountain Grove, three daughters, Brenda Kay Gibson and husband, Troy, of Vilonia, Arkansas, Cheryl Ann Sartor and husband, Steve, of Mountain Grove, and Rhonda Jo Goss of Mountain Grove, fifteen grandchildren, Tammi, Gilbert, Karina, Matthew, Gina, Robin, Billy, Hunter, Nevaeh, Preston, Joey, Candace, Jamie, Carrie, and Caitie, twenty-five great-grandchildren, one brother, Robert “Bob” Leach and wife, Ethel, of Norwood, Missouri, and a host of other relatives and friends.
