Bonnie Harris

Bonnie Lou Harris was born to Granville Lee and Elsie Chloe (Miller) Lemons on June 8, 1932, on a peach tree orchard in Center Point, Arkansas, and departed this life Wednesday, January 6, 2021, at her home in Norwood, Missouri, surrounded by her loving family. She was 88 years, 6 months, and 29 days of age.

Bonnie grew up and lived most of her younger days in southern Arkansas. In 1951, Bonnie graduated from Sparkman High School in Sparkman, Arkansas.

On November 25, 1959, Bonnie was united in marriage to the love of her life, Ronald Harris, in Ava, Missouri. Together they shared 57 wonderful years.

Their passion was working on their farm together, raising different kinds of beef cattle, training border collies, grafting trees in the orchard, and vegetable gardening. Bonnie knew, as much as any farmer, the tricks of the trade. When the machinery broke down, she was responsible for running to town to get the needed part. She would know exactly what part to ask for, and if she didn’t know the name of the part, she would literally take them and show them what she needed on the particular machinery available. When it was needed, she could also pull a calf easier than anyone.

Bonnie was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 3770 for 29 years. Until the time of her passing, she would contribute to VFW bingo night by making her yummy desserts.

Bonnie’s main enjoyment in life was being with her family and friends. Until their passing, Bonnie loved going to her yearly horse racing trips to Hot Springs, Arkansas, with her beloved sisters-in-law, Marilyn and Martha Harris. She loved spending time with everyone, especially her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her great-great-grandson. Bonnie would get down on the floor at the children’s level and entertain them with imaginative and creative adventures. She would make them feel so loved and special, and they would make her beam with pure enjoyment. Bonnie was an outstanding cook and could make a spread fit for a king. She knew everyone’s favorites and would fill them to the brim. She was a strong, generous, happy and forgiving person. She would never hesitate to give to anyone in need. Bonnie gave her life to Christ at a young age.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, one son, Philip Walter Harris, one step-daughter (loved as her very own), Kathleen Grace Matthews, and one grandson, Novie “Buck” Baney.

She is survived by one son, Byron Frisbee (Carol) of Mountain Grove, Missouri, two daughters, Karla Morris (Bill) of Mountain Grove, Missouri, and Janet Owen (Ronnie) of Sulphur, Oklahoma, five grandchildren, Shannon Peterson, (Jeremiah), Kristen Sheppard (Toby), and Dena Baney all of Mountain Grove, Missouri, Matthew Morris of Englewood, Colorado, and Lacy Cameron (Michael) of South River, Ontario, Canada, thirteen great-grandchildren, Kelsy Hartley (Mason), Kelby Goetz, Samantha and Sophee Peterson, Zachary, Logan, Kadee, and Kylee Sheppard, Adyline Fleetwood, Makenzee Frisbee, J.T. Thornton, and Zoey and Ember Cameron, one great-great-grandson, Baylor Hartley, and one special brother-in-law, James Harris, numerous other relatives, friends, and neighbors.
