Bobby O'Dell

Bobby Dale O'Dell was born May 27, 1930, in Wright County, north of Hartville, Missouri, and departed this life August 22, 2023, at Hartville Care Center in Hartville, Missouri. He was 93 years, 2 months, and 26 days of age.

Bobby grew up and attended school in Hartville, Missouri. He worked in timber and logging, and he owned and operated a sawmill. In 1979, he and his son, Roger, bought the landfill together and Bobby operated it until 1992 when he started farming full-time. He enjoyed haying, checking cattle, and spending time outdoors on his farm. He truly loved to farm, and he continued farming as long as he was able.

Bobby enjoyed gardening and he always produced a big garden. He also loved his old mule, Jani. Bobby liked to stop at the convenience store, about every time he came to town, to get a candy bar, bottle of pop, or buttermilk. He was known to enjoy a good visit with his friends and neighbors, and he would always take the time to stop and talk whenever possible.

Bobby was preceded in death by his grandparents, Linzie and Elsie O'Dell, his mother, Golda Blackwell, one son, Roger O'Dell, and one great-granddaughter, Addy Holstead.

He is survived by one son, Rodney O'Dell of Hartville, Missouri, three daughters, Tammy Carriger of Grovespring, Missouri, Treva Tompkins and her husband, Tom, of Hartville, Missouri, and Rhonda O'Dell of Arkansas, six grandchildren, Missy, Denette, Chasity, Eric, Carlin, and Kirastin, seven great-grandchildren, Paxton, Cayda, Alex, Charli, Maverick, Paxton, and Kaydence, two brothers, Tommy Blackwell and Charles Blackwell, one sister, Wanda Cannon, and other extended family and friends who will miss him.
