Bobby Gorman Bennett

December 30, 1945 — December 4, 2008

Bobby Gorman Bennett, son of Maney Gorman and Irene (Franklin) Bennett, was born on December 30, 1945 in Macomb, Missouri and departed this life on December 4, 2008 at his home with his family by his side in Norwood, Missouri, following a short illness. He was 62 years of age.
Bobby grew up in Macomb and attended school in Mansfield, Missouri. He was united in marriage to Donna Elaine Snavely on August 16, 1963. Five children were born to this union.
Bobby began working for Taystee Bread Company at the age of twenty-one which began a lifelong career in retail bread sales. On August 30, 1999 he fell from a horse and endured a serious head injury. Following six months of recuperation he was able to go back to work for a year before retiring from Colonial Bread as a Corporate Accounts Executive in 2001.
Bobby never lost his love for horses or mules and at the time of his death, he owned twenty. Even though he never rode again, he loved to feed and pet them.
Bobby was saved at Union Grove/Caudle Freewill Baptist Church near Norwood in September of 1996. He loved his family and prayed every day for God’s protection over his children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother: Irene Bennett; and by one brother: Donald Bennett.
Bobby is survived by his loving wife of forty-five years: Donna Bennett of their home; his children: Elaina Prewett and her husband, Curtis, of Norwood, Kristy Raschko of Springfield, Gorman Bennett and his wife, Sharon, of Norwood, Trena Turner and her husband, John, of Mtn. Grove and Brent Bennett and his wife, Trish, of East Lynn; his father: Maney Bennett of Macomb; two sisters: Wilma Gray of Fulton and Pat Blackwell of Mansfield; two brothers: Ronnie Bennett of Macomb and Randy Bennett of Mansfield; thirteen grandchildren: Daniel Raschko of Republic, Kyla, Katie, Kourtney and Colton Turner of Mtn. Grove, Jessica, Michael and Chasity Prewett, Logan, Abby and Emily Bennett, all of Norwood, and Mason and Grant Bennett of East Lynn; two great-grandchildren: Taren Raschko of Clever and Chloe Raschko of Norwood; and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss him very much.


Funeral Services:
Saturday, December 6, 2:00 PM in the 1st Assembly of God Church in Mansfield, Missouri.
Visitation:
Friday, December 5, 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM in the Craig-Hurtt Chapel.
Burial:
Thomas Cemetery, Norwood, Missouri
Donations to:
St. Jude Children's Hospital - Ronald McDonald House - or to the family c/o the funeral home.
