'Bob' Sylvester Brummer

Sylvester “Bob” A. Brummer, son of the late Ambrose and Laura (Kemme) Brummer, was born on October 24, 1926 in Wheeler, Illinois, and departed this life on October 10, 2007 at his residence near Mountain Grove, Missouri, following a long illness at 80 years of age.
Bob grew up in Illinois and served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was united in marriage to Clara Zumbahlen on October 24, 1953 at Island Grove in Wheeler, Illinois. Four sons and one daughter were born to this union. Bob owned and operated a hog and beef cattle farm for ten years and later a dairy business for thirty years. He went back to raising beef cattle before retiring to Mtn. Grove in the 1980’s. They made their home in several areas including, Newton, Illinois from 1953 to 1959, Wheeler, Illinois from 1959 to 1966. Then they moved to a dairy farm in Mason, Illinois from 1967 to 1972 and moved to Fairfield, Illinois until 1977. They moved to Hartville, Missouri area in 1977 where they operated a dairy business. Then in 1983 they moved to Mtn. Grove where they currently reside.
Bob enjoyed being outdoors fishing, golfing, and he also enjoyed baseball. He loved his family very much and enjoyed spending time with them and visiting with his friends.
He is survived by his loving wife: Clara Brummer of their home; four sons: Glen Brummer of Belleville, Illinois, Tom Brummer of Shreveport, Louisiana, Jerry Brummer of Effingham, Illinois, and Greg Brummer of Kansas City, Missouri; one daughter: Pamela Gehrig of Missoula, Montana; one brother: George Brummer of Wheeler, Illinois; eight grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
