Bobby Lavern Clark, son of the late Elmer and Laura (Wood) Clark, was born April 10, 1945, in Wright County, Missouri, and departed this life July 26, 2015, at his home in Mtn. Grove, Missouri, following a short illness. He was 70 years, 3 months, and 16 days of age.
Bob grew up in Wright County and was a graduate of the Mtn. Grove High School class of 1963. Bob was later enlisted in the Army, where he proudly served his country from 1965 to 1967. He was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam Era. Bob was united in marriage to Linda Sue Hill on August 21, 1971. One son was born to this union. Bob prayed, asking God to give him a son. In his prayer he made a promise to God that he would make sure his family faithfully attended church. God answered his prayer and Bob kept his end of the deal. He was saved and baptized in May of 1976, and was ordained as a Deacon on September 24, 1976.
Bob was a member of Hopewell Free Will Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday School and served as a Deacon for many years. His presence will be deeply missed at Hopewell.
Bob worked for the Brown Shoe Company for 37 years. He later retired from Airgas. Some of his hobbies included talking on his CB radio, hunting, and fishing. He was always looking to help his neighbors in one way or another.
Bob was a very likeable person who had an ornery personality. In fact, one story he liked to share was about the time he was using a stick to flip persimmons at his sister, Joy. He had her pinned at the side of the house and by the time he had finished flipping, the whole side of the house was green. He knew he was going to be in trouble so he stuffed a bunch of old news-papers down his pants for some relief padding from the swat he was sure to receive once his father found out. He remarked that the news-papers didnt help soften the blow a bit.
Besides his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his sister: Joy Ratterree.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of nearly 44 years: Linda Clark; son: Dale Clark and wife, Toni, of Mtn. Grove; three grandchildren: Austin Clark, Ethan Clark, and Aleah Clark, all of Mtn. Grove; numerous other relatives and many friends. Bob loved his Savior, his family, his church family, and friends. He will be missed greatly by all who were blessed to have known him here on earth.
