Billy Ray Wells, son of the late Joe Samuel and Dorothy (Brown) Wells, was born on September 11, 1942 in Cord, Arkansas and departed this life on November 24, 2014 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. He was 72 years, 2 months, and 13 days of age.
Billy was united in marriage to Anna Clark on June 26, 1961 in Newport, Arkansas. Five daughters were born to this union: Darlane, Mary, Tracy, Pamela, and Paula.
Billy loved hunting and fishing. He and Anna went to the catfish pond together all the time. Billy was a fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and the Kansas City Royals. He enjoyed antiquing and had a large collection of items he had discovered. Billy was a giving person. He greatly enjoyed helping others. The kids in the neighborhood always came to him for help with their bicycles. He helped repair them and he made sure every child had a bike of their own. Billy loved spending time with his family and grandkids. He will be greatly missed.
Besides his parents, Billy was preceded in death by one brother: Jimmy Wells.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years: Anna Wells, of the home; five daughters: Darlane Collie of Mountain Grove, Missouri, Mary Smith and her husband, Erwin, of Springfield, Missouri, Tracy Sutton and her husband, Andy, of Edgar Springs, Missouri, Pamela Hurley of Mountain Grove, Missouri, and Paula Wells of Mountain Grove, Missouri; four brothers: Sam Wells, Bobby Wells, Leslie Wells, and Sidney Wells; three sisters: Donna Jo Brown, Mary Midget, and Marilyn Vaughn; six grandchildren: Erica Jones, David Smith, Anthony Smith, Matthew Hurley, Emily Hurley, and Alivia Puello; two great-grandchildren: Brenna Smith and Bailey Smith; and a host of other family and friends.
Visitation: Friday, November 28, 2014 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home.
