Elmer William “Bill” Blair, son of the late Frank Oliver and Frances Anna (Bilsten) Blair, was born on January 3, 1959 in Seaside, California and passed away suddenly on Sunday, August 17, 2008 near Mtn. Grove, Missouri in Texas County, following an accident. He was 49 years, 7 months and 14 days of age.
Bill grew up and attended school in Prunedale, California and moved to the Norwood, Missouri area in 1977. He was united in marriage to Mary Benthal in June of 1982. They raised two children.
Bill worked in the concrete business for seventeen years and at the time of his passing he had a framing business.
He married Leslie Adamson on September 10, 2006 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. They made their home on Stonegate Drive in Mtn. Grove.
Bill lived and breathed motorcycles. He loved to ride, collect, and work on them. He also enjoyed going to motorcycle events whenever possible.
Bill was a loving and caring husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend. He loved spending time with his family and visiting with his many friends. He will be truly missed by those who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Frank and Anna Blair; a nephew: John Raymond Blair Jr.; and by his grandparents.
He is survived by his loving wife: Leslie Blair of their home; one son: Robert William Blair of Springfield, Missouri; one daughter: Rayna Lynn Hutchinson and her husband, Thomas, of Kansas City, Missouri; three step-sons: Dustyn Merckling of Springhill, Florida, Justyn Merckling of Houston, Missouri and Mikal Block of Mtn. Grove; two step-daughters: Destiny Block of Mtn. Grove and Katelyn Evetts of Mtn. Grove; two brothers: Alvin A. Blair and his wife, Tina, of Mtn. Grove, and John R. Blair Sr. and his wife, Kim, of Elk Creek, Missouri; one sister: Mary (Blair) Mabe and her husband, Rick, of Mtn. Grove; one granddaughter: Gracie Lynn Hutchinson; nieces; nephews; and a host of other relative and friends.
Funeral services for Bill Blair were held Wednesday, August 20, 10:00 AM in the Craig-Hurtt Chapel with Bro. Rick Mabe officiating. Song selections were “Against The Wind,” “Take It Easy,” “Everything I Own,” and “Go Rest High On That Mountain.” Burial will be at a later date. Services under direction of the Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mtn. Grove, Missouri.
