Beulah Leona Curtis, daughter of the late Alvin and Lottie (Coffman) Owens, was born September 1, 1918, in Wright County, Missouri, and passed away January 9, 2021, at Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains, Missouri. She was 102 years, 4 months, and 8 days of age.
Beulah was raised in Wright County. She married Otho Curtis on September 18, 1939, in Gainesville, Missouri. Together they had seven children. When Beulah and Otho were first married, they ran the Rock Store and then ran the Crossroad Store. Beulah was a hard worker. She worked at Brown Shoe Factory for many years and came home and milked cows at night. She also helped work in the fields and stayed up late making her children’s clothes. Beulah and Otho were baptized together in the Gasconade River. The most important things in her life were the Lord and her family.
Beulah loved fishing but wouldn’t eat fish. She enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable gardens. She was known for her chicken and noodles but wouldn’t eat chicken. She also loved playing card and word games.
Besides her parents, Beulah was preceded in death by her husband, Otho, on March 19, 1990, two sons, Ronald Gene Curtis and Reginald Dene Curtis, three daughters, Marilyn Riggs, Joyce Nunn, and Lila Curtis, one grandchild, Ronald Chris Curtis, one son-in-law, Ed Kubisiak, three brothers, Normal Owens, Howard Owens, and Bob Owens, two sisters, May Steinert and Fay Gray.
She is survived by two daughters, Nelda Kubisak of Licking, Missouri, and Joan Harker and her husband, Paul, of Mountain Grove, Missouri, twenty grandchildren, forty great-grandchildren, forty-eight great-great-grandchildren, one daughter-in-law, Vi Curtis, one son-in-law, Brent Nunn, two sisters-in-law, Juanita Owens and Doris Curtis-Clark, many nieces, nephews, other family, and many friends who will miss her love of life and happy spirit.
