Betty Jean Rippee, daughter of the late Bill and Etta (Grimes) Austin, was born on August 29, 1922 in Hartville, Missouri, and departed this life on February 7, 2012 in the Kabul Nursing Home in Cabool, Missouri, at 89 years of age.
Betty grew up and attended school in Wright County, Missouri. She attended college for two years and later served as a school teacher. She was united in marriage to Jason Rippee on October 27, 1947.
Betty ran a beauty shop in Kansas City, Missouri for a few years. She and Jason moved to Mtn. Grove in 1972, where they made their home for many years. Jason passed away on February 22, 1997.
While living in Mtn. Grove, they enjoyed attending services at the Southside Baptist Church where they made many friends.
Betty was employed for the Brown Shoe Company in Mtn. Grove for a while. She loved being outdoors, especially when gardening, taking in the nature around her and bird watching. She also liked to sew in her spare time.
Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Bert Austin and Farris Austin; one sister: Mable Austin; and by two sisters-in-law: Eva lea Austin and Erma Austin.
She is survived by one brother: Joe Austin of Mtn. Grove, Missouri; one sister-in-law: Eloise Austin of Springfield, Missouri; nieces; nephews; and other relatives, friends, and neighbors who will miss her very much.
