Barbara Delcour

May 15, 1945 — December 29, 2016

Barbara Delcour, daughter of the late Thomas and Wilma (Davis) Connell, was born on May 15, 1945 in Vancouver, Washington, and departed this life on December 29, 2016 at her home in Mountain Grove, Missouri, at 71 years of age.

Barbara moved to California and then to Missouri. She married James Dillard in 1963. Three children were born to this union. Barbara married Cleve Skidmore in 1970. She helped raise his six children as well as her own. In 1986, Barbara married Lavern Delcour and acquired his six children. They were married for 23 years until his passing in 2009.

Barbara worked as a waitress while living in California as well as when she was in Norwood, Missouri. She spent most of her life working in housekeeping for Rocky Ridge Manor in Mansfield, Missouri, as a supervisor.

Barbara loved working in her vegetable garden. She also greatly enjoyed cooking, reading, playing cards, and spending time with her family. She was a wonderful mother. She worked hard for her family and helped them in any way she could. Barbara loved God and thought He should be first in her life. She was of the Baptist faith. In her later years, Barbara enjoyed watching television. When her health started failing, her daughter, April, moved back to help Barbaras brother, Steve, take care of her. Taking care of Barbara was always a privilege and a blessing. Barbara also had two special dogs whom she dearly loved, Angel Baby and Fox-Z.

Besides her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by one son, James Dwayne Dillard, two brothers, Ronald and Larry Connell, and by one sister, Connie Skidmore.

She is survived by one son, Christopher Dillard of Hobart, Indiana, one daughter, April Dillard of Mountain Grove, Missouri, one brother, Steve Connell of Mountain Grove, Missouri, twelve step-children, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, many very close and special friends, and many other relatives and friends who will miss her greatly.


Visitation: Tuesday, January 3, 2017 from 1:00 - 1:45 in the Craig-Hurtt Chapel.

Graveside Service: Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at 2:00 PM in the Thomas Cemetery, Norwood, MO.

Burial: Thomas Cemetery, Norwood, MO.
