Arthur Ray Atchison, son of the late Orvle and Pearl (Alexander) Atchison, was born on February 19, 1926, in Exeter, California, and departed this life on December 18, 2015, in Springfield, Missouri. He was 89 years, 9 months, and 29 days of age.
Early in life, Arthur was raised in the Norwood community. He worked for J.I. Case Implement Company in Bettendorf, Iowa for 30 years, retiring in 1981. He then moved back to Norwood, living on his farm until 2005. He then moved to Seymour, Missouri, and finally in 2014, Arthur became a resident of Magnolia Square in Springfield, Missouri, living there until the time of his passing.
When Arthur was younger, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and became interested in weather and meteorology. He loved his farm and gardening.
Besides his parents, Arthur was preceded in death by two brothers: Paul Atchison and Silas Atchison; and four sisters: Rachael Babcock, Dorothy Atchison, Marie Douglas, and Ruby Atchison.
He is survived by three brothers: Kenneth Atchison of Van Horn, Texas, Noah Atchison of Springfield, Missouri, and Dewey Atchison and his wife, Shirley, of Branson, Missouri; one sister: Evelyn B. Atchison of Mountain Grove, Missouri; one brother-in-law: Ernest Douglas of Springfield, Missouri; one sister-in-law: Louise Atchison of San Luis Obispo, California; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends.
Arthur will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
