Annie Ruth Bass

Annie Ruth Bass, daughter of the late Lawton Columbus and Matilda Ruth (Turner) Becham, was born on April 22, 1938, in Knoxville, Georgia, and departed this life on July 10, 2016, in Mansfield, Missouri. She was 78 years, 2 months, and 19 days of age.
Annie grew up in Roberta, Georgia, and met Valmer Ellis Hire in Atlanta at a USO dance. They were united in marriage on August 5, 1956, in Lizella, Georgia. Together they moved to the Macomb area in 1956. Four children were born to this union: Al, Mona, Valerie, and Mercede.
Annie enjoyed gardening, family gatherings, and attending church at Friendship Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her first husband: Valmer Ellis Hire on December 26, 2002; her second husband: Ellis Bass; four brothers: George, Alfred, Jack, and Lawton Jr. Becham; one sister: Teresa Ussery; and longtime friend: Larry Freels.
Annie is survived by one son: Al Hire and Theresa Haines of Mansfield, Missouri; three daughters: Mona Cox and her husband, Doyle, of Mansfield, Missouri, Valerie Moody of Mansfield, Missouri, and Mercede Price and her husband, Darin, of Mansfield, Missouri; one brother: Lee Becham of Lizella, Georgia; one sister: Barbara Miltner of Byron, Georgia; fourteen grandchildren: Tom Maxwell, Stephanie Lakey, Ashley Ivey, Angela Pharris, Tia Pharris, Timothy Pharris, Daniel Pharris, Aaron Price, Nick Price, Morgan Price, Bobbie Lynn Hire, Alexandria Hire, Ashley Nicole Gieselman, and Crystal Haines; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends who will greatly miss her.
