Angilee F. Neher, daughter of the late Everett and Ermil Moore, was born in Mountain Grove, Missouri, on January 14, 1925. She was raised in a family including three brothers and one sister. She departed this life on January 05, 2018, at the age of ninety-two years, 11 months, and twenty-two days.
Angilee graduated from Mountain Grove High School in 1942. She passed the Missouri Teacher’s Exam while a senior in high school. After graduation, Angilee taught six years at area one-room school houses. On May 6, 1945, Angilee was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Galen R. Neher. The happy couple moved to Kansas City, Missouri, where Galen worked for Union Wire Rope Company. In 1946, she and Galen purchased forty acres that was previously owned by Galen’s grandfather. Later they sold that farm and bought their present farm, eight miles northwest of Mountain Grove. Angilee and Galen had one son, Stan, and one daughter, Karen.
Angilee continued her education while raising two children, substitute teaching, and private tutoring to anyone struggling with homework. She received her Bachelor of Science in Education with a minor in Art in 1976 from SMSU in Springfield, Missouri, with honors of Summa Cum Laude and earned a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education in 1981. Angilee enjoyed teaching sixth grade at Mountain Grove Elementary School. She retired from teaching in 1989.
Angilee was an excellent seamstress. She also made beautiful cakes for all occasions. Angilee loved to draw and paint, always working to improve with each piece of art. She loved to cook family recipes and do crafts, home décor, and holiday party planning. Angilee was a perfectionist and an inspiration to everyone around her.
Angilee and Galen were faithful and longtime members of the Mountain Valley Freewill Baptist Church where she was baptized at age thirteen. She loved the Lord and enjoyed attending church with her family, friends and neighbors. She taught Sunday School, directed many church plays and coached youth teams to compete over their knowledge of scripture winning at National Bible Bowl tournaments.
Besides her parents, Angilee was preceded in death by her husband: Galen, her son: Stan, her brothers: Wayne and Darrell, brothers-in-law: Marvin, Elmer and Harvey, and sisters-in-law: Evelyn, Lorene and Marge.
Angilee is survived by her daughter: Karen Virtue and her husband, Dan, of Rogersville, Missouri; her daughter-in-law: Jewel Neher, of Kansas City, Missouri; grandchildren: Michelle Barnhart and her husband Roger of Saint George, Kansas, Erin Berkland and her husband Daniel of Kansas City, Missouri, Kristin Ebbert and her husband Ryan of St. Joseph, Missouri and Justin Virtue and his wife Carissa of Ozark, Missouri; great-grandchildren: Riley, David and Raegan Berkland, Mikala and Caleb Barnhart and Lydia Gaylen Virtue; her brother: Jerry L. Moore and his wife, Janice, of Independence, Missouri; her sister: Jeanette Smith and her husband, Russell, of Blue Springs, Missouri, sisters-in-law: Doris Moore of Blue Springs, Missouri, Jean Moore and Willetta Neher of Mountain Grove, Missouri, and Esther Neher of Pierce City, Missouri; many nephews, nieces, other relative and many friends who will miss her.
