Amy Lou Leggett, daughter of Dewey Barton and the late Lavena (Zumwalt) Barton-Mitchell, was born on August 26, 1973 in Houston, Missouri and departed this life on Saturday, November 19, 2011 in the St. John’s Regional Health Center in Springfield, Missouri, following an extended illness. She was 38 years, 2 months and 25 days of age.
Amy grew up and attended school in Raymondville and Houston, Missouri. She graduated from Houston High School in 1992. She was united in marriage to William “Roger” Leggett on September 3, 1994 in Raymondville, Missouri. Two children were born to this union. They made their home in Springdale, Arkansas for several years before moving back to the Houston area in 2008.
Amy was employed as an Assistant Manager for the Springdale Motel as long as her health permitted.
Amy was a loving and caring daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She truly loved spending time with her family and visiting with her many friends. She will be truly missed by those who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her mother: Lavena Mitchell on August 5, 2008; her grandfather: Lyndle Zumwalt; her cousin: Tim Zumwalt; and by her paternal grandparents: Thomas L. and Zelma Barton.
Amy is survived by her husband: William “Roger” Leggett of their home; her children whom she adored: Mary Brittany Nicole Leggett and Lyndle Quinton Tyler Leggett of their home in Houston, Missouri; her step-children whom she dearly loved: Lacey Michael of Springfield, Missouri and Clifford Ray Blackwell of Lindale, Texas; her grandchild: Madison Blackwell; her father: Dewey Q. Barton, Sr., and Paula, of Junction City, Kansas; her brother: Dewey Q. Barton, Jr., of the State of Kansas; her maternal grandmother: Mary Zumwalt of Houston, Missouri; special cousins: Tammy Stell of Houston, Missouri and Dewayne Barton of St. James, Missouri; a special aunt: Cornelia Ferguson of Raymondville, Missouri; several aunts; uncles; cousins; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral Service:
Monday, November 21st at 2:00 PM in the Craig-Hurtt Chapel.
Visitation:
Monday, November 21st from 1:00 PM to service time in the funeral home.
