Alice Luella Vessey

Alice Vessey, daughter of Jerome and Ruth Caswell, was born January 27th 1947, in Colorado Springs, Colorado She departed this life Monday, November 28, 2022, in Winnsboro, Texas, at the age of 75 years, 10 months, and 1day.

On September 14, 1965, she was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart Charles Erwin Vessey, and to this union, three sons were born. Charles passed away in October of 2005. She was married to Gary Gene Bates on July 15, 2017. Gary passed away in November of 2021. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Charles and Gary,her parents and brother, Leland.

Alice is survived by her three children, Charles Vessey Jr and his wife, Heather, of Winnsboro, Texas, Conrad Vessey and wife, Donna, of Wasilla, Alaska, and Carl Vessey and his wife, Kimberly, of Niangua, Missouri; eighteen grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren; two sisters, Naomi, and Janice of El Paso, Texas, three brothers, Leonard of Springfield, Loren of Ava and Lyle of Seymour; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and many friends.

She was raised in the Colorado Springs area and Fordland, Missouri. After getting married she followed Charles around the world during his twenty years in the Navy. After retirement they lived in Alaska for several years before moving back to Missouri.

She enjoyed traveling, sewing, needle point and hosting family dinners.

Alice was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life knowing that she’s made heaven her home and will treasure the beautiful memories she created for her family and friends.
