Agnes Fay Leighty, daughter of the late Roy and Etta (Brown) Clear, was born April 5, 1936, in Bristle Ridge, Missouri. God called her home on January 24, 2024. She was 87 years, 9 months, and 19 days of age.
Agnes attended school in Warrensburg, Missouri. After graduation, she met and married Dale Leighty. They were married 61 years. Together they raised three children and cared for several children in foster care throughout the years.
Agnes and Dale made their home in Mountain Grove, Missouri, the majority of their marriage. Agnes worked at Brown Shoe Company until its closure and then worked at the Church of the Nazarene Day Care Center for several years. Throughout the years, Agnes and Dale helped start several churches in the Mountain Grove area.
Agnes enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved playing cards and dominoes and playing practical jokes on family and friends. Everyone enjoyed her peanut brittle and cobblers, leaving no recipes for those of us she left behind.
Agnes had a unique relationship with each child, grandchild, and great-grandchild. She loved God and she loved her family. She also loved to laugh and make others laugh, which she did until her very final moments with us.
Agnes will be greeted in Heaven by her loving husband, Dale, her parents, five brothers, three sisters, and one granddaughter-in-law.
Agnes will be patiently waiting for the arrival of her two sons, Pastor Vernon Leighty and wife, Jackie, of Marshfield, Missouri, Victor Leighty and wife, Richelle, of Willow Springs, Missouri, one daughter, Sandra Adams and husband, Michael, of Ava, Missouri, honorary daughter, Carol Beck and husband, John, of Leeton, Missouri, two sisters-in-law, Fern Hurt of Carthage, Missouri, and Mabel Clear of Belton, Missouri, eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends who will miss her greatly.
The family invites everyone to gather, spend time, share stories, rejoice in the Lord, and remember Agnes and her wonderful life.
Services will be live streamed on the Westside Family Life Center Facebook and YouTube channels.
Memorial contributions may be made to Willow Springs Senior Center.
