Thomas “Tom” Harold Hawley, son of the late Harold Frederick and Marie Clarice (McQuade) Hawley, was born on October 14, 1934 in Aitkin Village, Minnesota, and passed away on June 8, 2011 in the Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, Missouri. He was 76 years, 7 months, and 24 days of age.
Tom grew up and attended school in Minnesota and Wisconsin. He entered the United States Navy when he was seventeen years of age and served his country for twenty years as a hospital corpsman.
He was united in marriage to Wendy Marshall on September 20, 1980 in El Cajon, California. One son was born to this union. They had made their home in the Macomb, Missouri area for thirty years.
Tom worked for the Missouri Department of Agriculture as a kennel inspector and later as a poultry inspector. He was heavily involved in the Missouri Pet Breeder’s Association and the pet industry for over twenty years. He owned and operated a dog kennel for twenty-five years. Currently he was the President of Top of the Ozarks Chapter of Missouri Pet Breeder’s Association. He was also a Mason and a member of the Missouri Farm Bureau Board.
Tom enjoyed all kinds of animals, especially horses, dogs, and birds.
He is survived by his loving wife of thirty-one years: Wendy Hawley of their home; one son: Michael Hawley of Macomb, Missouri; two brothers: Ed Hawley and Brian Hawley, both of Mtn. Grove, Missouri; and other relatives, neighbors, and friends who will sadly miss him.
